The Laboratory Department at Twelve Clans Unity Hospital is equipped with state of the art technology with the ability to draw and perform tests onsight.
In 2019, the Lab was awarded a two-year term Certificate of Compliance under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) program for high complexity laboratory testing. This is the result of a review and inspection by the State of Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regulates all laboratory testing (except research) performed on humans in the United States through CLIA. The program ensures the accuracy and reliability of patient test results. Most laboratories, including those in physician offices, must meet applicable Federal requirements and have a current CLIA certificate. Twelve Clans Unity Hospital’s achievement of this two-year Certificate of Compliance is a huge and important step toward Medicare Certification. The hospital’s laboratory team was surveyed on various practices including but not limited too instrumental validation and verification, standard operating procedures, personal documentation and education, and quality control.
